Hi, I'm Fiona.

I'm a mum of two, the person behind Still Magnets and the one making, checking and packing the photographs you trust me with. What started as something incredibly personal somehow turned into a little business I never really planned to build.

How It Started

It started with one magnet I couldn't bear to lose.

I had a photo magnet of my best friend who had passed away. It was something I saw on my fridge every day, but over time it started fading and peeling.

I remember looking at it and thinking that eventually the photo might disappear completely. It wasn't really about the magnet. I was scared of losing another little piece of someone who meant so much to me.

So I started learning how to make photo magnets myself. I wanted something that felt better, looked beautiful and was worthy of the photographs we choose to keep around us.

At the time I was also deep in motherhood and had started feeling a little lost outside of simply being Mum. Making magnets became something that was mine. A little bit of me time after the kids were asleep.

Somewhere along the way, people started ordering them. Then more people ordered them. And Still Magnets very accidentally became a business.

It was never really about making magnets. It was about keeping the photographs that matter somewhere we can still see them.

Why Quality Matters to Me

I'm always looking for a better way to make them.

I'm probably a little obsessive about print quality, materials and how the finished magnets look. I test papers, printers, finishes and processes because I don't want to settle for something simply because it's good enough.

Built Around Real Life

Still Magnets grew alongside my family.

I started building the business after having my second child, with my workspace tucked into the corner of our bedroom and most of the work happening around naps, bedtimes and family life.

There was no huge business plan. I was learning as I went, making mistakes, testing things, changing things and slowly building something around the life I already had.

The business has grown, but that personal part hasn't really changed. I still know that the photo someone uploads might be their baby's first year, their wedding day, a grandparent, their dog, a favourite holiday or someone they deeply miss.

That's why I'll probably never see your order as just another set of magnets.
