If you’re anything like me, your phone is probably full of photos you love. The everyday ones, the blurry-but-special ones, holidays, birthdays, pets, little faces that have already changed far too quickly.
We take more photos than ever, but so many of them stay buried in our camera rolls. We save them because they matter to us, then rarely look at them again.
So if you’ve ever wondered what to do with all the photos on your phone, one of the simplest places to start is choosing a few that mean something to you and actually getting them out of your camera roll.
The best photos aren’t always the perfect ones
You don’t need a folder full of professional family photos to create something meaningful.
Often, the photos we end up loving most are the completely ordinary ones: a child laughing at the dinner table, the dog asleep somewhere ridiculous, grandparents holding a new baby, a holiday snap, or a photo someone sent you that you forgot you even had.
When you’re choosing photos to print, start with the ones that make you feel something. They don’t have to be perfectly posed.
How to choose photos worth printing
If you have thousands of photos and don’t know where to begin, make it easier on yourself. Pick a person, year, holiday or little chapter of life and start there.
Look for photos where the main person or subject is reasonably clear and where there’s enough space around them for the image to be cropped without losing anything important.
A mixture usually works beautifully. You might choose a close-up of your child, a family photo, a candid moment, a favourite pet photo and one of those little everyday memories that would otherwise stay hidden on your phone.
And don’t immediately dismiss older photos. A slightly imperfect photo of someone you love can mean far more than the sharpest image in your camera roll.
Photos can make some of the most meaningful gifts
There’s a reason photo gifts feel different from buying another thing off a shelf.
The photograph already has a story behind it.
For grandparents, parents, partners or someone who seems impossible to buy for, a gift made from family photos can be incredibly personal without needing to be complicated or extravagant.
It might be a photo of all the grandchildren, a favourite family holiday, someone who lives far away, a pet, or simply an ordinary moment they never realised you captured.
Turn the photos you already have into something you can see every day
Printing your photos doesn’t have to mean creating a huge photo album or finding space for another framed picture.
Personalised photo magnets are one simple way to bring those memories into everyday life. Instead of sitting somewhere in your phone, they can live on the fridge where you naturally see them as you walk past.
That’s what I love most about them. They’re small, useful little reminders of people, places and moments that matter.
